Rap Peavy was sent to us by a fellow Green Beret who actually served with him in Vietnam, where he knew him as a rear-echelon radio repairman that was never issued a weapon.
He saw him on a YouTube video claiming to have served 3 tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret with 5th Special Forces, MACV SOG Black Ops. You can hear him in his own words 👉👉 Rap Peavy in his own words 👈👈
He stated he was a Green Beret over the years in ads for his car lot. He clearly used his claim to be Special Forces to help with sales at his car lot.
We sent for his military records and see he has several accomplishments to be proud of, but being Special Forces (Green Beret) is not one of them. He wasn't even Airborne, which is a prerequisite to attend Special Forces Training.
While it is true he was stationed with 5th SF, CCC he was assigned to Special Forces as MOS (31S) Field General Communication Security Repairer and not as a member of any MACV SOG unit and not a Green Beret. Interestingly, due to the rules used during Vietnam, anyone serving with Special Forces for 120 days or longer and earned a Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) with that unit were considered a battle field Green Beret.
His military records do not show that he was awarded a CIB. Therefore, no retroactive award of SF TAB would be authorized, nor was he Airborne qualified. His MOS was (31S) Field General Communication Security Repairer.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt we tried several times, in vein, to contact him for an explanation of his Green Beret claims. Finally, we were able to contact him through one of his FB friends.
He admitted the video was a mistake and should have said he served with Special Forces but not as a Green Beret.
He has many things suggesting that he is a Green Beret on his Facebook page to include his Profile Picture with Special Forces patch and Long Tab over Old Man Clan tab.
His explanation for wearing Special Forces apparel is that he was honoring the time he serving with 5th Special Forces, Command and Control Central (CCC). Yet that wasn’t enough, he chose to cheapen those memories by pretending to be a Green Beret.
