Kurt Thompson the fake Green Beret was sent to us long ago. We had a hard time getting the information needed to request records because his name is fairly common and we had multiple results that were roughly the same age.
A few months ago, we received an email from someone that knew him from high school. The information he provided allowed us to narrow him down and get records.
I think we initially received this guy back in 2014 and found an older article on him that was dated 2006, so he's been running the lie for decades. In one of the articles, it mentions him as a Staff Sergeant yet in pictures we see him as an SFC or MSG. It also says he's a Ranger and Sniper.
So this is as straightforward as it gets. He was none of that.
He was Airborne that spent just under 3 years in the 82nd. He then went to Germany where it seems s**t hit the fan. In less than a year, he goes from C BTRY 3/35th FA Bn to prison in Ft Sill, Oklahoma. We don't see any attempt at Special Forces Assessment and Selection much less the Special Forces Qualification Course. We see no attempt at Ranger school. He leaves the service in what we can assume is something other than an Honorable Discharge since they have that covered on his 2-1.

The ever-elusive, ultra-rare, super-secret, seldom seen, Sniper Tab: False, never even attempted any Army Sniper school and there's no Sniper tab.
Sergeant First Class in a picture: False, He left the service as a Private E-1.
Master Sergeant in other pictures: False, He left the service as a Private E-1.
82nd Airborne Combat Patch: False, He was never in Combat.
